1. What works better > What looks better

There is a greater emphasis on what is needed and what works when it comes to a kitchen. Costs and appearances now come second to functionality. The best kitchen designs are customised to fulfil your needs! It is not about what looks good, but what is functional as Indian kitchens suffer a lot of wear and tear and are used for up to 12-14 hours a day.

2. Customise the design to suit your cooking practices

The key to suitable kitchen spaces and cabinetry design is understanding and focusing on how we as Indians use kitchens in our unique way. Ask yourself- do I eat a lot of frozen food? Or do I prefer eating all things fresh? Do I need space to store a lot of spices in your cooking, or do I like to keep it simple? Eating preferences can have a significant impact when it comes to designing a kitchen.

3. Design the kitchen interiors as a communal space

Consuming homemade delicacies while cooking together is one of the most fun ways to bond with loved ones. We increasingly see kitchens with two sets of burner hobs and two chimneys that allow the whole family to cook together. This design also helps to ventilate the kitchen quickly and efficiently, while making the utility of the space an enjoyable communal experience.

4. Good lighting goes a long way to accentuate your spaces

Lighting is one of the most important aspects of kitchen interior design, especially when it comes to high end home interiors. All counters, drawers, and shelves can be optimally illuminated with profile LED lighting. Good lighting makes the space seem larger, and it becomes easier to spot anything dirty or unhygienic.

5. Equip your kitchen with the latest technology

Kitchens are the heart of any residential design! Cooking has now become a trend across all segments of Indian society, and post the pandemic, people have begun to enjoy the cooking experience while being at home a lot more. A well-designed kitchen equipped with the latest appliances allows for greater experimentation and exploration and, therefore, is a treat to use!

During the lockdown, people spent hours in their kitchens preparing meals for themselves and other families in isolation due to COVID. The kitchen has been at the core of caregiving and service to society during this time. Hence, there is a shift in residential design from luxury and stylish kitchens, to what works and is functional and practical- while at the same time, the emphasis on the communal nature of the space has risen.
